Disney's Beauty and the Beast

After running a site like this for a while, certain questions crop up often! I'm quite happy to answer each one personally, but I thought it'd be useful if they were also here so that you can find out some answers without having to wait for me to get back to you.

I've divided things up into a number of categories; no particular order - the ones that came to mind first are at the top. And yes, the most popular question asked of me is undoubtedly 'Where can I get a copy of the 'Beauty and the Beast' video?'!

Where Can I Get The Video?

Icon Where can I buy a new copy of the video/DVD of 'Beauty and the Beast'?

This is easily my most-asked question! Currently (October 2006) the video is 'in moratorium' - i.e. unavailable to purchase from Disney or other stores here in the USA. However, you have another option...

Icon I don't care about a new copy! I MUST have the film!

OK, if you HAVE to have a copy, browse on-line auction sites - the best is www.ebay.com - and you will find many, many pre-owned copies in varying conditions.

Icon What other media can I get the movie on?

It used to be available on Laserdisc, it has recently been available on DVD.

Contacting Animators

Icon D'you have any contact addresses/email addresses of Disney animators?

No, sorry. If you want to contact an animator (for example, to send fan mail) then you are probably best off writing a polite letter to them c/o Walt Disney Feature Animation. Some are reputed to read the animation and/or Disney-related newsgroups, but I can't verify this.

Icon C'mon - you must have some contact addresses!

Nope - I really don't. Trust me on the advice above, though; I sent a fan-letter to Glen Keane just after the UK release of 'Beauty and the Beast', via Walt Disney Feature Animation, and got a reply.

About The WWW Site

Icon Why aren't there any video files (.MOVs, .AVIs, etc.) here? No MP3s or other sound files either?

Frankly, the reason is that I don't fancy being shut down by a team of lawyers for breach of copyright. If you really want to track these things down, try Google.

Icon Why don't you have any adverts on your site?

Because I don't want them. My preference is for a clean layout, and I don't want intrusive banners or other graphics that I can't properly control. Personally, I think this site is better without adverts, and I intend to keep it that way. Every now and again I do get solicitations for placing (animation related) advertising on my site, and I always politely refuse.

Other Questions...

Icon Where can I get Halloween/party costumes of the characters?

I'm sorry, I really have no idea. It all depends where you are and what party outfitters and suppliers are in your area. Again, Google for suppliers - you might be surprised!

Questions about me!

Icon Are you an animator?

No! I wish! I'm just somebody who loves this film...

Icon Aren't you a bit old to be going to all this fuss for a cartoon?

Cartoon!! - you mean animated feature, don't you?! :-)

Yes, at 41 years old, I guess I probably am! But what the hell...
